Cycling: Keith takes league title

ST CHRISTOPHER’S Cycling Club's season-long Auldhouse time trial league came to an end recently with Keith Jones taking the title.

Towards the end of the Auldhouse league, three riders were battling it out for the honours. Defending champion Andy Neal, Keith Jones and Colin Meikle were neck and neck for a while until Keith rode a few sub 25 minute times over the course to propel himself into top spot.

Colin Meikle finished a well deserved runner up with Andy Neal clinging on to third spot.

In the visitors’ section, Andy Kerr rode away with first place and only Mark Ratter and Norman Runciman came close to stealing his prize.

This year the club saw riders from 16 to 65 taking part as well a few ladies showing the guys how to do it.

Although the league may be finished for another year there is still plenty to keep riders occupied. First up is the club's opening meeting of the winter and this takes place on Wednesday, October 14 at the Auldhouse Arms from 7.30pm.

The club's annual hill climb and freewheel competition takes place on Sunday, October 25 with riders meeting at the Auldhouse cross at noon.
