CALDERGLEN Harriers turned out in force at the weekend for the Deafblind 10k in Bishopbriggs in memory of Brancumhall woman Margaret Anne Duthie.
Margaret was an interpreter for Deafblind Scotland and passed away in January.
Her husband, Martin Duthie – who is a member of the Harriers – was one of the15 Harriers who turned out for the race, making them the biggest represented club there.
The first two to cross the line were Martin Duthie and Alan Derrick, in third and fourth respectively, with exactly the same time of 36 minutes and 20 seconds.
Stephen Reilly was next to finish in 38:14 followed closely by Scot Hill in 38:50 and Eddie Reid in 39:15. Stuart Waugh followed in 40:54, just in front of Jim Holmes (41:06) then David Herbertson (44:06).
In her first race for some time, Frances Maxwell crossed the line in 45:51 followed by Ian McKenzie in 48:34, then by David Searil in 49:59 and Don Kennedy in 50:38. Russell Couper managed to complete the course after sustaining an achilles injury and finished in 58:24. Sandra Reid had to drop out as she was feeling ill.
This race proved to be a good day out and at the same time, the Harriers were supporting a great cause.
