Magnificent seven as Greenhills Dynamo power to third straight win

GREENHILLS Dynamo were in seventh heaven on Saturday after firing seven past West of Scotland League side Rosneath in the Scottish Cup.

It was touch and go if the game would go ahead but the Murray pitch was in almost perfect condition despite the overnight downpour.

Dynamo opened the scoring on five minutes when Rosneath were caught trying to pass their way out from the back. Dynamo stole possession of the ball and shifted it through to Garry O'Hanlon who controlled from 18 yards, before turning and side footing the ball past the keeper to his bottom left. Unfortunately for Dynamo, their top scorer limped off minutes later when he came worse off in a 50-50 challenge.

Dynamo continued to press and bagged a fortuitous goal when Rosneath's centre-half tried to knock the ball back to their keeper under pressure but he sliced it into the air and the strong wind carried it over the goalkeepers head and into the net.

The Greenhills side went 3-0 up when O'Hanlon's replacement Willie McPhilemy won a penalty for Michael Donnelly top convert.

A John Paul Hughes corner on the right was met by the head of Stephen Cullie to make it four before the former met with a half volley to make it 5-0 moments later.

Then Donnely and McPhilemy sealed the emphatic victory with great solo efforts.

Dynamo are back in League business this weekend at the Murray where they take on old rivals Shawbridge. The match kicks off at 10am.
