EAST Kilbride Thistle boss Colin Mitchell is this week facing up to the ‘frightening’ prospect of playing four matches in eight days – and has set his side a target of nine points from a possible 12.
The Jags face a crucial stage in their campaign to avoid relegation this week when they play against Hurlford in the first of the four matches.
The challenge will be a tall order for the Jags as they seek to steer clear of the bottom four places.
However, Mitch insists every upcoming match is of equal importance.
He told the News this week: “It’s frightening the number of games we are facing.
“However, we were kind of expecting to face this backlog of matches to be honest and other clubs are in the same situation.
“But no match this week is more important than the other for our side.
“I am hoping the boys can get nine points from the four games we are facing in the next eight days – that’s our target.
“With so many games coming up I’ll probably have to rotate some of the players to keep the team as fresh as possible.
“I really hope we can get the win against Hurlford so we can keep our momentum going after our recent wins.”
Despite all the matches coming up, the one thing going in Thistle’s favour is that all the games will be played at the Showpark.
First up in their battle for survival will be Hurlford United who will be visiting on Saturday with a 2pm kick-off before the Jags welcome high-flying Lanark United to the town on Monday evening with a 7pm kick-off.
Following that Colin Mitchell’s side will play mid-table Shotts on Wednesday, April 22 with a 7pm kick-off before rounding off the marathon stretch of matches on Saturday, April 25 with the visit to the town of fellow strugglers Kilwinning Rangers.
