Wee Jags suffer loss in cup tie

EAST Kilbride Thistle’s 1995 side suffered their first defeat of 2009 as they lost 2-1 to Cumbernauld in the third round of the Regional Cup.

The Wee Jags dominated the first half with keeper Jamie MacKenzie not having to a save to make, but Thistle could not find the net either and went in at half time 0-0.

Thistle continued where they left off in the second half and, eventually, got the opener when Jamie Reid ran through to beat the keeper with his fifth goal in four games.

Cumbernauld, to their credit, started to push Thistle further back and scored two goals in the last 20 minutes to win the tie and go into the last 16.
