EAST Kilbride Football Club pulled off a major signing coup this week as they landed former Rangers stars John Brown, Charlie Miller and Bob Malcolm – for one day only!
The ex-Ibrox heroes will play for the EKFC All Stars in a showpiece match during the club's Gala Day at the K-Park in Calderglen Country Park on Sunday, June 17.
Kick-off is 2.30pm and the All Stars will face a testing afternoon on the 3G surface as EKFC have secured Scotland's Homeless World Cup holders as the opposition for the big game.
The Homeless World Cup heroes caught the imagination of the nation when they won their crown in France and will defend the trophy in Mexico later this year.
They are coached by former Rangers skipper Ally Dawson and he is delighted to be on board for the big game.
He told the News: “It will be a great experience for our team to face all the ex-pros and celebrities the EKFC All Stars always seem to assemble for games like this.
“I know they take it all very seriously and it will be an excellent preparation game for our players ahead of the big adventure in Mexico.”
Earlier this year Homeless World Cup skipper Robert Hare hosted some EKFC 96 Golds players for a question and answer session on how he has turned his life around through football.
That visit forged a bond and Dawson added: “I have visited K-Park before and loved the facility so I am looking forward to coming back with the team.
“Robert's story seemed to inspire some of the kids that day, they listened to him intently and enjoyed their training session with our squad.
“It was a big learning day for them.”
In the weeks to come EKFC will be announcing more stars for the team and unveiling other great attractions for the gala day ahead of the big event on Sunday, June 17.
