EKYC recognise their star performers

EAST Kilbride Youth Club were able to call on three SPL stars to help present their player of the year awards earlier this month.

St Johnstone duo Frazer Wright and Peter McDonald, as well as St Mirren’s Kenny McLean came along to the Ballerup Hall on Sunday, June 19 to join the club in celebrating the achievements of their youngsters across eight age groups.

The evening was a tremendous success with over 400 people in attendance.

EKYC have 10 teams playing under their banner, as well as two Fun Fours teams, and each and every player received a medal on the night for their efforts over the past season.

The award winners on the night were as follows:

1994s – Sam Tofique (Player of the Year); Ross McDonagh (Players’ Player of the Year).

1995s – Marc Brown (Player of the Year); Lewis Dorrans (Players’ Player of the Year).

1996s – Josh McDonald (Player of the Year); Liam Barclay (Players’ Player of the Year).

1997s – Daryn Watson (Player of the Year); Kieran Ingram (Players’ Player of the Year).

1998s – Brandon Harron (Player of the Year); Jack Smyth (Players’ Player of the Year).

1999s – Ross Smith (Player of the Year); Kian Burns (Players’ Player of the Year).

2000s First Team – Marc Kane (Player of the Year); Alan Watson(Players’ Player of the Year).

2000s Second Team – Kyle Caig (Player of the Year); Ross McGurk (Players’ Player of the Year).

2001s First Team – Paul Slowey (Player of the Year); Matthew Stanton (Players’ Player of the Year).

2001s Second Team – Josh Weir (Player of the Year); Josh McLuskey (Players’ Player of the Year).

Also given special recognition on the night were the 1995 side who scooped a double trophy win during the season and the 1996 side who claimed a treble triumph over season 2010/11.

Finally, EKYC thanked all the coaches, parents and everyone else involved with the club for their continued enthusiasm and support during the season.
