EAST Kilbride Athletic Club enjoyed a memorable outing last month with outstanding success at the Lanarkshire cross-country championships followed by their annual Ceilidh and awards ceremony.
The action-packed day began with Lucy Muirhead coming first and Sarah Connolly third in the under-11 girls’ race, helping secure second place in the overall team standings for their age group.
There were also second place team finishes for the under-11 boys and the under-15 boys, while the under-13 girls and under-15 girls came in third place.
Meanwhile, the senior men’s team saved the best until last by coming first in their category, aided by Niall Walker’s third place finish.
The day was a particularly special one for Aidan Gilbride who, as well as being Lanarkshire cross-country champion, also recorded a personal best time.
That evening he then picked up the club’s track and field champion award for under-15s and was crowned overall Athlete of the Year.
The prestigious Scott Walsh Endeavour Award was shared jointly by Niall Waker and Martin Lynas.
And, finally, club champion medals were also awarded to: Amy Beckwith, Lucy Muirhead, Calum Hopkins, Grant Myles, Rebecca Russell, Chloe Mason, Vincent Hastings, Rachael Thomson, Jamie Clements and Gordon Selfridge.
