EAST Kilbride’s very own electronic rock stars are getting geared up for their next festival performance.
After almost missing their set at this year’s T in the Park, Kobai, are set to do it all over again at this weekend’s Live at Loch Lomond Festival.
Kobai drummer, Jamie Finn told the News: “T was a complete riot in every sense of the word.
“We didn't get off to such a hot start and got caught up in massive traffic queues. We were only actually about 30 minutes down the road from the arena but we hardly moved an inch in over two hours and we were due on stage in about an hour.
“We didn’t fancy humphing all our gear up to the T Break Stage on foot but lucky for us there were some police up ahead monitoring the traffic jam so we sent Rab up to turn on the charm and he eventually talked them into giving us a police escort past all the marooned traffic.
“After that it was just a mental rush to get through all the red tape and security guards that don't know who was meant to be doing what or where we could get our gear set up.”
He added: “In the end the organiser pushed the set times at the T Break Stage back a little bit to accommodate the bands not travelling by helicopter or parachute. This meant our new stage time put us head-to-head with the Arctic Monkeys, but we had an awesome crowd considering and we played a stormer of a 20-minute show cramming in as many tunes as we could!
“The rest I'm afraid is all a noisy, alcohol-induced blur that we probably won’t be able to make much sense of until we get our £1 cameras developed — but I'm sure it was good.
“Now we're looking forward to playing Live at Loch Lomond this weekend, although this time we have a Sunday evening slot at 6.30pm on the Sunday Mail stage — so I guess we'll have to try and keep the drinking and tom-foolery to a minimum until after we play.”
For those of you who will be missing out on the fun at Loch Lomond this weekend, there are several other opportunities to see Kobai blow some speakers.
Upcoming gigs include: King Tuts on August 15, The Doghouse in Dundee on August 24, Capitol on August 27, Teviot Underground in Edinburgh on September 19, The Tunnels in Aberdeen on October 19 and a gig at the Arts Centre at the end of the year.
