Man jailed for over car theft

A man has been jailed after stealing a car with a three-year-old child in the back.

James Docherty from Edinburgh had no idea the boy was sitting in the back of the BMW 4x4 when he drove off in the vehicle on January 7.

He swooped on the car in the Jock's Lodge area of the city after the driver, the child's father, left the vehicle temporarily.
