Historic day for Rum residents

An island community has voted to take ownership of some buildings and land in a bid to help safeguard its future.

As a result of the ballot of Rum's 17 adult inhabitants, £250,000 of assets will be transferred to them from Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), the Scottish Government agency.

The transfer was proposed by the Scottish Government to help create a thriving local economy on Rum.
