Man dies after being hit by train at Hairmyres station

A man has died after being hit by a train near Hairmyres station.

The 12.26pm East Kilbride to Glasgow ScotRail service terminated at Busby as British Transport Police dealt with the incident which occurred around 12.30pm today.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the incident is being treated as non-suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family. 

Rail services have now returned to normal.
