EK magician picked out by psychic

A MAGICIAN was left spooked when a psychic medium turned the tables on him at a recent show in East Kilbride.

Steven Holt is well used to leaving people baffled by his magic tricks.

But it was Steven who was left looking for answers when medium Shaun Dennis put the spotlight on him at the Village Theatre earlier this month.

Shaun’s psychic show was coming to an end when he was apparently contacted by someone from the ‘other side’.

The spiritual guide, supposedly a relative of Steven, was describing the scene of a young boy falling in a pond during a family holiday and how this incident led to a life-long fear of water for the person involved.

It was at this point Steven, 32, raised his arm and indicated the story could be about him.

The Murray man then claims Liverpudlian Shaun came up with personal information which left him flabbergasted.

Steven told the News: “I was seated in the front row and I only went to the show because I thought it would be something different.

“I’m also an amateur magician so wanted to see if I could work out how the mediums come up with their information about people, because I was very sceptical about how the whole thing works.

“Then, just as the show was drawing to a close, he said he was being contacted by someone who was describing a scene where a young boy fell into water and was soaked through.

“This immediately registered with me as that happened on a family day out when I was about 10 and it led to a phobia of water. My family still take the mickey about it to this day.

“So I put my hand up and Shaun then described the accident in great detail and then accurately named the family member who may have been passing this info on.

“He then went on about how I like to play practical jokes, which I do, and then rounded it off by coming up with my name, without any hint or prompt. I was amazed at the accuracy of it all.

“Afterwards I asked the booking office if they ever gave out information on people but they said definitely not. I wouldn’t say I’m a believer yet but it’s definitely something I can’t explain.”

Shaun Dennis, who is currently on a national tour, told the News: “Steven is a really lovely guy and I’m glad I could give him an accurate reading.

“I have no doubts that a lot of people are sceptical about this but I just pass on what I’m being told.”
