Teenager is detained in custody

A 16-YEAR-OLD East Kilbride boy has appeared in court in connection with an alleged sex attack on a schoolgirl.

Liam Crockett, of East Mains, made no plea or declaration when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last Wednesday.

He was ordered to be detained in custody until his next court appearance.

The charges against him relate to an alleged incident on May 11 in which a 15-year-old girl was allegedly indecently assaulted at the Ballerup Sports Pitches in Whitehills.

The alleged attack sparked a high-profile police investigation.

In a statement, Strathclyde Police said this week:

"A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident and is presently detained in police custody.

“A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
