POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a young man was badly beaten in Greenhills at the weekend.
The 19-year-old from Whitehills was walking through the underpass that runs under Lickprivick Road at about 9pm on Saturday when he was attacked by a gang of five males.
The group of thugs, who had been drinking, approached the 19-year-old and began punching and kicking him.
He suffered a fractured cheekbone and a broken nose and was later taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment.
The incident was reported to police the following day.
The five attackers are described as being between the ages of 20 and 27 and one of them was wearing a white-hooded sweat shirt and jeans, and he had short dark brown hair.
Anyone who may be able to help police with their enquiries is urged to contact detective constable Jim Waddle on 01355 564016.
