Project will help people with brain injuries find work

ADULTS in South Lanarkshire with an acquired brain injury are to benefit from a new programme designed to support them in returning to work.

The Work Ahead programme will be delivered by Momentum Skills in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council.

Supported by the Big Lottery Fund, the programme will provide vocational training, rehabilitation, job coaching and job placement support to help people gain meaningful employment. The service will also support employers in retaining staff who have sustained a brain injury.

The new programme will be based in the CTEC building in Cambuslang, where Momentum currently provides its OPEL programme, which helps people with learning disabilities find work or move into further training or further education.

Gail Sinclair, area manager for Momentum Skills, said: “Since 1994, Momentum Skills has provided innovative person-centred services to help people to move forward with their lives after sustaining a brain injury.

“Currently, Momentum Skills provides brain injury services in Glasgow, Grampian, Ayrshire and the Scottish Borders.

“Working in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council and with support from the Big Lottery Fund, we will be able to help even more people through our new Work Ahead programme in South Lanarkshire.”
