Boys put best feet forward at dance classes

A BOYS’ hip hop class is proving to be a big hit with the town’s budding body-poppers.

Dance Central, which is run by the experienced dance teacher Elaine Wedlock, hosts the popular, all-action classes in the West Kirk hall every Friday.

Elaine, who has been doing taster classes in East Kilbride’s schools in recent months, is delighted so many local boys are showing an interest in the classes.

She said: “The boys’ hip hop class is very popular and I am so proud boys are now taking to the dance floor.

“We are also involved in musical theatre and all the pupils meet for dance, singing and drama workshops every weekend

“This year the pupils will be working towards productions of Grease for the under-6s and High School Musical 2 for the under-10s. I am also preparing our under-18s for a new production which I have written myself, and our annual production will take place at the Village Theatre in June.”

Elaine has already established two successful schools in Blantyre and Hamilton and it looks like she is well on her way to making East Kilbride a toe-tapping hot bed.
