A GANG of thugs put a man in hospital after a Friday night attack in Westwood.
The 27-year-old and his 26-year-old friend were set upon by a group of between eight to 10 male and female teenagers in Tasman Drive at 8pm.
The 27-year-old, who is from Westwood, spent at least two nights in Hairmyres Hospital for treatment to a nasty head wound.
The other victim, from Calderwood, suffered swelling to his head but did not require hospital treatment.
The victims said one of their attackers was wearing a red track suit top and another was wearing a white track suit top but they were unable to give more detailed descriptions.
Local police are eager to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack.
Officers are especially keen to speak to members of the public who may have encountered a group of youths in Westwood Square, which is just a short walk away from the street where the incident occurred.
Detective Constable Lindsay Ferguson of East Kilbride Police issued an appeal asking local people to help trace the culprits.
She said: “I would appeal to anyone who either witnessed the attack or has information that may assist police enquiries, in particular, I would like to hear from anyone who saw a group of youths in Westwood Square, East Kilbride shortly before the assault took place.”
The man was taken to Hairmyres Hospital where he was treated for a head injury then later released.
