Calderwood woman helps football pundit Roughy with charity video

A CALDERWOOD woman is the creative force behind a charity video featuring legendary Partick Thistle and Scotland goalkeeper Alan Rough.

Cindy-Lou Ramsay, 35, of Maxwellton Avenue, joined forces with the footballer-turned-pundit and his Real Radio co-host, Ewan Cameron, to create a spoof rap video featuring Rough’s alter-ego, ‘Rough Daddy’.

The idea came about when the MOBO awards arrived in Glasgow earlier this year and Ewan challenged Roughy to perform his own rap on their Real Football Phone-in show.

The ex-goalie, who was once famous for his outlandish perm, threw himself into the role of a gangsta rapper and within weeks what started as light-hearted banter, transformed into an all-bling, all-dancing rap video.

Football Phone-in producer Victoria Easton called in the assistance of Cindy-Lou for the charity project and last week Rough Daddy’s rap video ‘Wi Ma Dug’ was released to great acclaim on the Real Radio website.

Cindy, who has many years of broadcasting experience after working as a camera operator with the BBC, was only too happy to do her bit for the project’s chosen charity, CHAS.

She said: “I was approached about three and a half weeks ago by Victoria, the producer of the Football Phone-in. We met up, threw some ideas around and before we knew it we were planning a full-blown production.

“Roughy is used to working on radio, so he was quite shy at first but he came out of his shell and got right into the swing of it.

“We filmed the video at four different locations over three days and a lot of people gave up their free time to help out. It was a very humbling, enjoyable and bizzare experience.”

Indeed, Roughy was not the only well-known face in the final edit of the video which sees the former keeper surrounded by gorgeous babes and shimmering in gold chains.

Frank McAvennie is one of several famous faces who feature in the five -minute spoof and for once the former Celtic striker has to play second fiddle as Roughy enjoys the attentions of a bevvy of beauties.

There are also cameo roles for Elaine C Smith, Michelle Mone, Nieve Jennings, Katherine Brown, Gordon Smith, John Smeaton and former referee Hugh Dallas.
