Funky Feet will go down a storm with EK shoppers

EAST Kilbride Shopping Centre is going dance crazy this autumn with a star-studded programme that is sure to keep kids enthralled during the October Break.

Britain’s got Talent finalists Nemesis, Strike and Signature will all be at Scotland’s largest undercover shopping centre while local dance and sports groups will invite youngsters to try a new skill in a series of free workshops.

Funky Feet is a first for the centre and the week-long event from October 13 to 17, will feature a different dance theme each day.

Fresh from their television run with Ant and Dec, Britain’s Got Talent finalists and UK Hip Hop Champions, Nemesis, will top the bill on Monday, October 13, while EK’s very own school of dance, LMG, will host a series of workshops for five to 12-plus-year-olds over the course of the day.

On Tuesday the theme changes to cheer dance with local Scottish, National and European cheerleading champions, Electric Candy, taking to the stage to entertain the crowds with their award-winning routines.

And, once the performance is over, any youngsters looking to try their hand at cheer dance will be able to get some top tips from Electric Candy at their workshops for all ages.

Dance duo Signature stormed to the final of Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year as they wowed TV audiences, and Simon Cowell, with their hilarious mix of pop and Bhangra. Now EK shoppers will be able to see their one of a kind dance fusion routine live as the pair visit the centre on Wednesday, October 15, for an exclusive performance.

Musicals is the theme on Thursday, October 16, with EK group LMG School of Dance working their way through a series of classic song and dance routines, while on Friday, October 17, the spotlight turns on martial arts with a breathtaking performance from Britain’s Got Talent finalists, Strike.

The extreme martial arts duo became a household name during the summer with their spectacular flips, kicks and T-shirt ripping stunts proving particularly popular with the ladies, including celebrity judge, Amanda Holden.

To add to the excitement martial arts day will also feature special come-and-try workshop sessions with local group, EK Tae Kwon Do.

Commenting on the Funky Feet event, Andy Bradley, centre director at East Kilbride Shopping Centre, said: “We are really looking forward to hosting our Funky Feet week and I am sure our headliners Strike, Nemesis and Signature, along with EK’s very own dance and sports superstars, will go down a storm with our shoppers.”

Funky Feet performances will take place on a specially created stage in Centre West while the free workshops will be conducted in a specially fitted out unit next to Clarks in Centre West. Main stage performances will take place from Monday to Friday at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm, while workshops will be conducted each day from 11.15am, 12.45pm, and 2.15pm.

Pre booking is available but not essential for taking part in the workshops and anyone looking to secure a slot can do so by calling EK’s Customer Careline on 0845 330 3828. Parental supervision is required at all times during the workshops.
