Drivers warned to expect long for roadworks

MAJOR roadworks affecting many local commuters will start on busy Eastwoodmains Road, Giffnock, between Eastwood Toll and Percy Drive this week

The road carries heavy through traffic between Paisley, Clarkston and East Kilbride as well as local traffic in and around East Renfrewshire and roads chiefs are warning all road users to expect delays.

From Monday, one westbound lane only will be kept open between Eastwood Toll and Percy Drive and eastbound traffic will be diverted via Mearns Cross, Eaglesham Road, Mearns Cross and Clarkston Toll.

The £300,000 job includes replacing a worn-out road surface and life-expired street lighting, removing old and diseased trees.

The works will run until Sunday, April 19.
