Your big chance to deliver the goods for a first class postie

COULD your postie follow in the footsteps of the town’s award-winning Stuart Steel?

Last year super-postie Stuart was named Scottish winner of Royal Mail’s First Class People Award for Charity Fundraising 2008.

Stuart was nominated for his extra-ordinary work in raising over an astonishing £50,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind through a range of fundraising activities.

And now Royal Mail want to know if there are other posties in the town who, like Stuart, are unsung heroes.

A final call has been issued for nominations for Royal Mail’s 1st Class People Awards, which recognise and reward postmen and women who have made special contributions to their local communities.

Royal Mail wants to hear from customers about the often unseen work and efforts many postmen and women make during their working day and within the community as they deliver in their local area.

Everyone who makes a nomination will also be automatically entered into a prize draw for a fabulous £1000 holiday.

Last year thousands of customers nominated their postman or woman as an ‘unsung hero’ and Royal Mail want to hear your stories about ‘1st Class’ posties in Scottish communities who are charity fundraisers in their spare time, or have performed a public-spirited act or dealt with an emergency while doing their deliveries.

All Scottish regional winners will go forward to the national heats to be held in London in March.

Customer nominations should be sent to: 1st Class People Awards, Royal Mail, Tallents House, 1st Floor, 21 South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh, EH12 9PB, or emailed to jennifer.bird@royalmail.com giving as much information as possible about the postman or woman plus your contact details, so your name can be entered into the customer prize draw to win £1000 in holiday vouchers.

Nominations must be received by Monday, January 12.
