BEAUTIFUL blue skies and a surprisingly warm November sun welcomed Duncanrig Rambling Club to Ayrshire for their latest walk.
The walk for the local members followed the path of the River Ayr Way for 11 miles from Limmerhaugh Muir to just outside Mauchline.
Along the whole of the route the walkers were accompanied by the glorious colours of the autumn foliage.
The party were also delighted to be able to view some of the local wildlife including herons as they made their way along the pathways.
A relatively flat two miles took the party past the weir and salmon ladder into the village of Catrine with its attractive former mill lade.
This is where the alternative walkers found a waiting coach while the main group carried on their trek into the steep gorge.
A short drive then took the Duncanrig ramblers to Poosie Nansies Inn for a well-deserved refreshment after their exertions before their return to East Kilbride.
The next walk on the programme this Sunday, November 16, will be an 8.7-mile B+ on the braes above Loch Ard with an eight-mile alternative along the lochside.
As well as having a walking programme, Duncanrig Rambling Club also has an interesting social programme with a variety of speakers and events throughout the sesssion.
Recently a group of 48 ramblers spent the weekend in Pitlochry visiting the Enchanted Forest and there is also a Christmas ceilidh on Monday, December 8. For membership details contact Florrie on 01355 234995 or visit the website at www.duncanrig.com.
